- Track installation
The NAT (National Authority for Tunnels) – the transport infrastructure contracting authority for Egypt – awarded the consortium of TSO, Orascom and ETF two separate track laying contracts for Phases 3 and 4B of the Cairo Metro Line 3 project.
These two turnkey contracts include the design, procurement, laying and commissioning of the track and third (power) rail for these two phases of Line 3.
Phase 3 (Contract 79/M) covers 18 km of double track and 15 stations (8 in tunnels and 7 on viaducts) in the megacity of Cairo. The project covers the supply and laying of the track and third rail for 36 km of single track, plus the 9 km of track in the Imbaba depot. Work on this phase will take place between 2020 and 2022.
Phase 4B (Contract 80/M) covers just over 6 km and 5 stations, all of which are on viaducts. The project covers the supply and laying of the track and third rail for the 12.5 km of single track, plus nearly 10 km of track in the depot. Work on this phase began in 2018 and is due to complete in 2020.
